From Glynis Andrews – Grant Chair:

On May 25, members of Impact Oklahoma were invited to see how their membership has made a difference for the Anna’s House Foundation. AHF was awarded an Impact grant in April 2016 which was used to construct a fifth home in this foster care community.

Of the approximately 11,000 Oklahoma children in foster care, about 2,500 live in Oklahoma County. Over half of those are under age six. There are approximately 2,500 traditional foster homes statewide and less than 500 in Oklahoma County. Approximately 50% of children are moved more than three times during their time in foster care. Approximately 50% of siblings are separated and placed into different foster homes upon entering the foster care system.

AHF’s mission is to provide immediate, stable and loving homes for Oklahoma County’s children in state custody. AHF desires to offer a future of hope and faith to foster children and families by providing housing, support, training, and resources in a community setting.

Through the Impact grant, children in DHS custody, particularly large sibling groups, will have placement stability in a loving, well-supported home.
